Let me introduce you to DesignSmash.
About two weeks ago Peter Bihr introduced me to Enlai Hooi to work on a small website. However, when Enlai and i started chatting and showing each other what he have worked on and what we have done in the past he had an idea: DesignSmash.
DesignSmash is a platform for designers to make and sell their products. We’ll hold events where designers are creating products within four hours, live during a public party/event. Guests dance and drink - and watch the designers making products! After those four hours we’ll laser cut the products - live! We are also publishing the finished designs on our website under a Creative Commons license which allows other designers to hack those designs.
Within two weeks we (Wiebke Herger, Jens Nikolaus, Martin Bauer, as well as Enlai and me with the help of others) have created a small website (which is in the progress of being replaced with an actual shop and a more detailed website) and we have organized our first Event: 20th of November at Betahaus in Berlin. But even more exiting: At the same date we’ll have a 2nd DesignSmash event during the opening of the NOUS Gallery in London.
The designs will be produced locally to asure short delivery times because we want you to have the product before christmas :)
If you want to be involved: Please get in touch with me or through our website. We’d be more than happy if you want to design something or can host an event in any other city.
Needless to say that Enlai and i have postponed to work on that small website for now ;)
